The Akaroa Hydro Generating Set Trust and Orion New Zealand were nominated for a heritage restoration award in the 2014 VERO Canterbury Heritage Awards. We are very proud to have been awarded the Heritage Restoration Award for 2014.
Judges Citation
"An invaluable part of Canterbury's industrial heritage restored to the very highest of standards. Orion strengthened the Category 2-listed Power House Gallery following the earthquakes, retaining the industrial feel of the interiors. The Trust sourced original electrical equipment and restored the generators and control gear into fully operational order. This project is complimented by museum standard interpretation and the publication of All Our Volts, Electrifying Akaroa."

In 2015 we were nominated for a civic award. These awards are given by the Christchurch City Council to people or groups "who have given outstanding community service to benefit the Christchurch community".
Again we are proud to have been recognised for the restoration of the generating equipment. The award was presented by Mayor Lianne Dalziel at a special function on Tuesday 1st December 2015. The mayor enthused about the project telling the group that "you must go and see this amazing equipment."
